Jamie + Alex – Salt Lake City LDS Temple Wedding and Album

Things have been so crazy over the last few months. Sorry for not being more on top of this blog. Sometimes it goes to the back burner as other things have to come first. Family and work are the first priority. After that, I have put my running closer to the front as my wife and I have several big races planned this year. We are running the Wasatch Back Ragnar Relay in just under two weeks. Then we will be running the Top of Utah Half Marathon, St. George marathon and then the Las Vegas Ragnar Relay. My wife and I put in for the St. George Marathon thinking we wouldn’t get in. We were not that lucky. We are now committed or maybe we should be committed?

Jamie and Alex were so great to work with. They are so laid back. It really made this wedding so much fun. The weather was looking questionable but turned out perfect. They were married in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on March 11th, 2011 and they had their reception at the Eaglewood Event Center that evening. It was great being involved in the entire process. I got to shoot their engagement pictures, bridal pictures, wedding dinner, and their entire wedding day.

Never in all my years as a wedding photographer have I ever seen anything like this before. After cutting the cake, Jamie and Alex went to feed each other and Alex must have been a lot hungrier than anyone might have thought. He decided not to wait until Jamie had taken her fingers out of the way of his teeth before completely biting down. Please reference the pictures below for a great laugh!

I also had the privilege to work with one of my favorite wedding videographers again. Kale Fitch of Kale Fitch Productions. He is so creative and likeable. He really makes things fun. Please check out his video of the wedding here. I let him borrow my 45mm tilt shift lens for a few shots. It looks really cool with video. He also did their engagement video which you can see here.

The album turned out wonderful. They had so many pictures that they loved, we decided to do 20 album spreads instead of the standard 10. I can’t wait to see the finished product!

Contest time! I feel like giving away a portrait session. This can be used for an engagement session, bridal session, family session, senior session, baby session, trash the dress session, groomal session, etc. You get the idea. The session will include up to two hours of time shooting, a disk of high resolution images from the shoot and an online gallery. These sessions are normally $200.

Now the fun part. To enter you must first go to our Facebook Business Page and click on “like”. Next you will need to comment on this contest post on our Facebook Business Page and tell us why you of all people should win. And finally you need to get as many people as you can to click “like” on your comment. The comment with the most likes will win. It’s pretty simple.

If you don’t win this time we will be doing this again really soon. Maybe even something bigger. Like a wedding.

Jamie’s Bridal Session – Joseph Smith Building, Salt Lake City, Utah

I love the Joseph Smith Building. It is so elegant and beautiful. I met Jamie and her mother this morning and spent a few hours with them. It was cold outside so we had decided to do this session indoors. We did end up going out for a few shots after the sun had come out to warm things up a little. I love shooting bridal and engagement sessions because it lets us create a bond before the wedding day. Jamie will be getting hitched in just a few short weeks at the Salt Lake City, LDS Temple and I am so excited to be her wedding photographer. I love my job!

Erika Bridal Session Teaser

Took Erika out for her bridal session. We went west out into the desert/salt flats area. We had a lot of fun. We saw a rabbit. We conversed with old men on bicycles. Great new location.

Happy 4th of July! To follow up the teaser, it is time for the full meal deal. I had a hard time picking out my favorites from this one. There were a lot of pictures as I was shooting for over 13 hours(=best day ever). You can see more pictures in this gallery. Everyone was so much fun. It was truly a happy day all around. The weather couldn’t have been better. The bride and groom were gracious enough to invite me to eat lunch and dinner with them. The food was amazing. Lunch at the Grand America and dinner at the Red Maple. Dinner was true Cantonese. I never thought I would say I had eaten shark, jellyfish, abalone, sea cucumbers, etc. I had to think of Bear Grylls to get myself to try some of this stuff. I also got to work with an amazing videographer, Kale from Kale Fitch Productions. His video work is fresh and modern. I have never seen a bride and groom so happy when viewing their video for the first time.

Stacie’s Bridal Session | Salt Lake City, Utah

Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back. Most of you probably don’t remember the song but it brings back lots of childhood memories for me. Yes, I must be getting old. It is bound to happen to all of us eventually. I have lots of fun and exciting things coming up in the next few months. Lots of weddings, engagement sessions and bridal sessions. The last bridal show I participated in was so successful that I have decided to do it again. It will be at the Southtown Expo Center on April 17th. Well, on to the task at hand. I met Stacie, her mom and her friend at Temple Square in Salt Lake City to shoot her bridal pictures. It was cold and rainy. Most brides would call it their worst nightmare. Stacie was awesome! Not one complaint and she had fun. If you look closely below you can actually see raindrops streaking down and goose bumps on her arms in some of the pictures. Bridal Show at La Caille | January 16th

My new years resolution is to be more determined and focused. So far so good. I am working on improving everything in my life. Working out more often. Spending more time doing the good things and less time doing the things that waste time. Hope I can keep it up and keep improving. What is your resolution?

I am very excited to be bringing in this new year with my first ever bridal show at La Caille. If you have never been there, the place is magical. It is gorgeous! The show will be on January 16th from 11am to 6pm. My booth number is M10 which is in the main floor room right by the door. I would love to see you there.
